 Akshay Kumar’s knack of flirting with danger has won him another admirer - Hollywood action director James Bomalick.

Bomalick, who choreographed the stunts in the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie starrer Mr and Mrs Smith, was completely bowled over by Akshay Kumar’s passion and enthusiasm for action while doing the stunts in the upcoming adventure thriller Blue.

“James felt that Akshay was the answer to Hollywood action heroes. What impressed him was Akshay’s meticulous dedication to performing action scenes in the film,” a unit member is quoted by a news agency.

The source added that Akshay was equally dedicated in ensuring the safety of the crew while doing the stunts.

“The way he took interest in knowing details about the action scenes… how he always was more interested in making it safe for unit members rather than himself,” the unit member said.

Akshay’s hunger and penchant for the death defying stunts floored Bomalick.

“James was stunned by Akshay’s confidence in doing some of the most dangerous stunts that main heroes would not do otherwise,” the member said.

Many of the action scenes were shot underwater and some had the actor swimming with sharks. While shooting one such scene underwater Akshay even hurt himself and began to bleed and had to be pulled up to keep him away from the sharks that smell blood very fast.

The movie also stars Sanjay Dutt, Lara Dutta and Zayed Khan. Katrina Kaif has a guest appearance.

No matter how much Saif Ali Khan wants Kareena Kapoor to be part of his every production, the professional side of the actor knows that doing so would be akin to committing hara-kiri.

He’s already done Tashan with her (though that’s another matter that it was Akshay who romanced Bebo while Saifu twiddled his thumbs), and has paired with her again in director Rensil D’Silva’s film Kurbaan. This apart, Saif’s second home production Agent Vinod will have Bebo playing a spunky role opposite him.

And since Saif and Bebo haven’t kept their affair secret, the actor is wary of the fact that people will get tired of seeing them together too often.

“…there is so much Saif-Kareena going on even off-screen that no good director will be least interested in casting us,” Saif makes a candid admission to a Mumbai tabloid.

So the duo is learnt to have taken a conscious and career-driven decision of doing films with other actors too. While Kareena is already working with the likes of Aamir Khan (in 3 Idiots), Salman Khan (Main Aur Mrs Khanna), it is Saif who has to find more leading ladies that look good with him, or with whom he looks good.

Of all the beautiful babes in Bollywood, Katrina Kaif still remains Akshay Kumar’s numero uno choice as co-star.

Though Katrina is in the top league of Bollywood actresses today, she is seldom credited for it. Often we hear rants about how Katrina struck fame by cashing in on the popularity of a crowd-puller like Akshay Kumar .

But, may be, it worked the other way round too. That Akshay while being the star to which Kat hitched her wagon also benefited from her as a co-star. How otherwise could one explain Akshay’s failed jodis with the likes of Deepika Padukone and Ayesha Takia in the last two of his releases – Chandni Chowk To China and 8x10 Tasveer respectively.
Now, perhaps Akshay himself has realized that he needs Kat as much she needs him for a successful Bollywood career. For when director Priyadarshan asked Akshay which actress he would like to have in the film De Dana Dan before the movie’s shoot began, Akshay had just one name on his lips.

Of course, today we know that Katrina Kaif is the film’s heroine and has already shot one schedule of the film and is currently filming its second schedule in Singapore. But she may not have landed the role if Akshay hadn’t recommended her to Priyadarshan.

The director confirms that Katrina was signed for ‘De Dana Dan’ after Akshay’s recommendation. He says he’s happy to have made that choice because, in his words, Akshay and Katrina share a “terrific chemistry on screen”.

Well, we all know that.

Miss Venezuela, Stefania Fernandez, has been crowned Miss Universe 2009 making it a historical second win in a row for Venezuela. Miss Australia, Rachael Finch, and Miss Puerto Rico, Mayra Matos Perez shared the first runner-up title, with the title of second runner-up going to Miss Kosovo, Gona Dragusha.

The new Miss Universe is an 18 year old beauty who is of Russian, Ukrainian, Galician and Polish origin.

Venezuela is renowned for it’s stunning women, they have won five Miss Universe titles, five Miss World and four Miss International crowns -- more than any other country.

Disappointingly, Miss India Universe, Ekta Choudhry, failed to make it to the Top 15 at the pageant held at Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas.

Stefania was crowned by Miss Universe 2008, Venezuelan, Dayana Mendoza who is now free to do her first topless shoot.

You must be wondering about whom we are talking, well, its a person whose name also starts with ‘S’ just like Katrina Kaif’s beau Salman Khan and without whom the lady can’t step out.

It’s a girl named Sandhya for the mademoiselle - a friend, confidante and her entire entourage. While other actors and actresses are accompanied with a group of people while they travel: a valet, bodyguard, agents and secretary; Kat has this super woman as her manager and thus, she needs no one else.

“Sandhya can fix everything from a switch in the house to organizing my daily affairs with super-efficiency,” the actress was quoted as saying.

You wouldn’t believe that even for a small conversation with an air hostess, Kat asks Sandhya. The angelic beauty is very much dependent on her as she takes care of every little thing and makes sure her Katrina is never alone.

Finally, Katrina Kaif has got someone to boss around.

An actress who has worked with actors much senior to her (Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Govinda…and other Bollywood fuddy-duddies) Katrina is now pairing up with guys her age.

Her dostana with Ranbir Kapoor was for real on the sets of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. A source from the film’s unit says that in the initial days of the shoot, Katrina would not let pass by any opportunity to rag Ranbir. Since he’s only two-films old in the industry where Katrina has struggled for six years, she would mockingly boss him around, and he would feign subservience. It created quite a funny atmosphere on the sets of the film which is a rom-com.

“With Ranbir, I can be myself. I guess it’s the age and the film’s a comedy…” Katrina is quoted as saying by Delhi Times.

Surprisingly, Katrina admitted in a recent interview that she doesn’t even gel so well with Akshay Kumar, her favourite co-star, as she does with the younger lot like Ranbir and Neil Nitin Mukesh (her New York co-star).

“When I get talking with Akshay, he says ‘oh Katrina, go and talk to Jenny (Akshay’s fitness trainer, a firang)’. But with the young actors I can really talk my stuff,” Katrina had said.

While shooting with Katrina, Ranbir also became quite fond of her.

“She’s a treat,” he told the news daily.

Well, Salman Khan and Deepika Padukone need not worry.
